Take a highly recommended 6-day adventure through Morocco, starting in Marrakech and finishing in Tangier. This tour will pass through some breathtaking landscapes, historic cities, and the fascinating Sahara Desert, which offer just the right mix of culture and adventure.Â
Itinerary
Leave Marrakech at 8:00 AM and drive through the gorgeous High Atlas Mountains. Stop at Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site with fabulous Berber architecture; climb to the top for panoramic views of the ancient caravan route. Then, continue to Ouarzazate, passing by the Kasbah of Taourirt, also known as the Hollywood of Africa, where you can visit the film studios. From there, continue along the scenic road of old kasbahs to stunning Dades Valley for an overnight.Â
After breakfast, drive towards Tinghir and take pleasure in the fabulous views of the route. Stop at the Todra Gorges with its prevailing cliffs. After lunch, move on to Merzouga, being a way into Sahara Desert. A camel ride in the Erg Chebbi dunes will let you see incredible scenery of the sand formation. Overnight in desert camp with the probability of Berber music around the campfire.Â
Early in the morning, wake up to watch the sunrise over the dunes; then, after breakfast, take the road to Fes via Rissani. You may make a casual walk around the local market. Continue to Ziz Valley, where you will see some fabulous landscapes of Ziz Gorge. Stop for lunch in a local restaurant before driving through the Middle Atlas with its cedar forests, replete with biodiversity. Arrive in Fes in the evening.Â
Spend the day exploring Fes, the oldest imperial city in Morocco. Most of the major sites will be seen today and include Medina, Bou Inania Medersa, Ennejjarine Fountains, the Mausoleum of Moulay Idris, and the Kairaouine Mosque. The old and new part of the city is explored before checking into a hotel or riad in the evening.
After breakfast, drive to Meknes, one of the four imperial cities in Morocco. Stop and visit Bab Mansour and Lahdim Square. Continue to Volubilis—the ancient Roman ruins—for an escorted tour. Next, proceed towards the famous blue city of Chefchaouen through picturesque villages along the way through the Rif Mountains.
Enjoy a leisurely morning exploring the blue-washed streets of Chefchaouen before traveling to Tangier, marking the end of your tour.
